Pollock Town Council Meeting again was held unusual due to the COVID-19 Virus for Public Gathering Limited Proclamation JBE-2020-33. Only 9 people could attend the meeting live and each placed at a safe distance from each other. The Meeting was streamed live on Town of Pollock face book Utility Clerk page. Quorum was met by live attendance of Mayor Scott, Councilwoman Misty Kinn, Councilman Ron Wilkins, Councilwoman Dee Thorne and via telephone Councilwoman Deborah Tumminello and Councilman Carroll Cathey. Mayor Scott and Town Council met on said date in a Regular Session at 9 A.M. in the Pollock Municipal Building Council Room, Pollock Louisiana.
Mayor Scott call the Town Meeting to order by leading the “Lord’s Prayer”, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Scott welcomed Guests.
Motion made by Councilwoman Thorne to approve the April 6, 2020, Town Meeting Minutes, seconded by Councilwoman Kinn. Vote: 5 yeas. Motion carried.
Meeting open for Public Comments: Telephone line open for calls from public. No comments.
Meeting open for Town Council Comments: No comments.
Attorney Greg Jones: I forwarded the Co-operative (IGA) Agreement Contract to U. S. Marshal’s for approval and have not heard back from them yet.
Pan American Engineers were unable to attend.
Town CPA Mr. Steven McKay was unable to attend.
Chief Chris Paul disseminated his monthly police report before meeting.
Town Clerk Judy Shelton disseminated the monthly Town of Pollock Financial Report.
Mayor Scott’s reported, I am pleased to announce that the Grant proposal I submitted to the Community Water Enrichment Fund Program has been awarded $28,409.00 to be used for the purchase and installation of much needed automatic flush valves for our water system. This will be a wonderful addition to the infrastructure of the Town of Pollock. Also, the Louisiana Local Government Assistance Program Grant for flush valve funding in the amount of $18,577.00 has been approved for the Town of Pollock. This will finalize the flush valve project for our water system at no cost from the Town. Mr. Philip Hale was in attendance via face book live and expressed these comments: I would like to recognize the excellent leadership exhibited by Mayor Scott and supported by the Town Council in applying and obtaining two Grants totaling $46,896.00 for the purpose of installing automatic flush valves in our water system. This continues to exhibit the forward thinking and continued infrastructure upgrades and maintenance.
Motion made to adjourn by Councilwoman Thorne, seconded by Councilwoman Tumminello. All in favor with 5 yeas. Motion carried.
