PUBLIC HEARING MINUTES

MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2018 at 8:45 A.M.

 

            A Public Hearing was called to order by Mayor Jerome Scott to accept public comments concerning the Town of Pollock’s proposed amended Budget, Ordinance #12-18-A and the proposed new operating Budget for the upcoming 2019 fiscal year, Ordinance #12-18-B. No one came forward with a comment.  The Public Hearing was closed by Mayor Scott at 9:00 A.M.

 

POLLOCK TOWN COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2018 at 9:00 A.M.

 

            The Mayor and Town Council met in the Council Chambers of the Pollock Town Hall on Monday, December 3, 2018, at 9:00 o’clock in the morning in Pollock, Louisiana.  The following members were present: Mayor Jerome Scott, Councilwoman Sharon Zeh, Councilwoman Deborah Tumminello, Councilman Ron Wilkins and Councilman Randy Estes.  Absent:  Councilwoman Connie Vanantwerpen.

            Mayor Scott called the Meeting to order by leading the Pollock Town Council and guests in the Lord’s Prayer, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  Mayor Scott welcomed all of those individuals in attendance at the Town Council Meeting.

            Mayor Scott opened the Town Council Meeting to the Public.  He welcomed Councilman-elect Carroll Cathy and his son, Carroll Cathay Jr., to the meeting.

            Mayor Scott opened the Town Council Meeting to the Council. Several commented on how pretty the Christmas decorations turned out in the park and all over town. There were many comments on how pleased they were with the new Town’s L.E.D.  Information sign in the park on Hwy 8 W.  It will be a great asset to the town and will quickly deliver messages and notices to our “community family”.

            A motion was made by Councilman Wilkins to approve the Monday, November 5, 2018, Town Council Meeting Minutes, seconded by Councilman Estes. Roll call vote: 4 yeas, 0 nays, 1 absent. Motion carried.

            Pan American Engineer Mr. Bruce gave update (LCDBG) chlorination water upgrade. Bids begin December 13, 2018, and the opening of the bids will take place on January 15, 2019. The valve is in for the splash pad repair and will be installed very soon.

            Town C.P.A. Mr. Steven McKay presented the Amended Budget for 2018, Ordinance # 12-18-A and Proposed Budget Ordinance #12-18-B for 2019.  A motion to adopt Amended Budget Ordinance #12-18-A was offered by Councilwoman Tumminello, seconded by Councilman Wilkins. Roll call vote: Zeh – yea, Tumminello, Wilkins – yea and Estes – yea. 4 yeas, 0 nays, 1 absent. Motion carried. A motion to adopt a Proposed Budget Ordinance #12-18-B for year 2019, was offered by Councilwoman Zeh, seconded by Councilman Wilkins. Roll call vote: Zeh - yea, Tumminello - yea, Wilkins – yea and Estes - yea. 4 yeas, 0 nays and 1 absent. Motion carried.

            Attorney Jones was unable to attend the Town Council Meeting.

            Chief Paul had no comments.

            Town Clerk Judy Shelton presented the monthly financial report to Mayor Scott and the Town Council.

            Mayor Scott presented his report:

  1. The Christmas Parade is Saturday, December 8th at 10:00 A.M.
  2. The Swearing-in-Ceremony for the Mayor, Council Members and Chief of Police will be held on Tuesday, December 11th, at 9:00 A.M., at the Pollock Town Hall. Everyone welcomed.
  3. Santa in the Park was held on Saturday. November 24th. Santa and the kids had a very enjoyable time.
  4. Family Dollar is still in the works.  There are talks taking place concerning Louisiana Department of Transportation and turning lanes required from Highway 165 onto Family Dollar property. Mayor Scott stated that he will continue talks.

 

Motion was made by Councilwoman Tumminello to adjourn, seconded by Councilwoman Zeh. All in favor: 4 yeas, 0 nays and 1 absent. Motion carried.
