February 2021 Council Meeting
Attorney Gregory Jones swore in the Town of Pollock’s newest Council member, Cynthia Dickey, before February’s Monthly Meeting started.
The Mayor and Town Council met said date in a regular session at 9:00 A.M., in the Pollock Municipal Building, Pollock, Louisiana. The following members were present: Mayor Deborah Tumminello., Councilwoman Cynthia Dickey, Councilwoman Misty Kinn, Councilman Ron Wilkins and Councilwoman Dee Thorne. Absent: Councilman Carroll Cathey
Mayor Tumminello called meeting to order, led in the “Lord’s Prayer” and Pledge of Allegiance. Mayor Tumminello welcomed all guests to the meeting. Welcomed Councilwoman Cindy Dickey.
Representative Gabe Firment presented to the Town of Pollock a House Resolution #9 from the Louisiana State Legislature for the late Mayor Jerome Scott. This Resolution expressed the condolences upon the death of Jerome Scott, longtime Mayor of the Town of Pollock. This resolution recognizes him for his many accomplishments to the town and parish.
Motion was made by Councilwoman Kinn to approve January 4, 2021, Town Council Meeting Minutes, seconded by Councilwoman Thorne. 4 yeas 0 nays, 1 Absent (Cathey). Motion carried.
Mayor Tumminello informed Town Council and guests of a LCDBG – CV HVAC Improvement Program concerning Air Quality improvement to our environment since Covid-19. It could help ventilation quality in some Public facilities. Mayor Tumminello is inquiring about the program to see if Town of Pollock might be eligible.
Mayor Tumminello opened meeting to the public. No comments.
Attorney Greg Jones updated everyone concerning Covid restrictions.
Pan American Engineers, Jacob Guillory handed out a list of options for advertisement of town wide roadway improvements. List included 5, NO COST, advertisement along with 3 advertisements that will cost. Mayor and Council decided to go with all the no cost advertisement along with The Advocate and Colfax Chronicle, which is required as our legal journal. Motion made by Councilwoman Thorne, seconded by Councilwoman Dickey. 4 yeas, o nays and 1 absent (Cathey). Motion carried.
Attorney Jones stated “Let the records show Engineer Jacob Guillory has provided an advertisement outreach list for roadway improvement. And Supervisor Dezendorf has provided a culvert installment list previously requested by Councilman Carroll Cathey.
Town C.P.A. Mr. Steven McKay was unable to attend.
Town Chief of Police Chris Paul gave out his monthly police report.
Town Clerk Judy Shelton disseminated the monthly Town of Pollock Financial Report and reviewed it with Mayor, Council and guests.
Councilmen/Councilwoman comments: no comments.
Mayor’s Report: Mayor Tumminello informed Council the town has received some of the insurance money from hurricane damages. We should see a new pavilion and playground equipment very soon in our Foster Park. Town of Pollock’s Mayor announced that we will hold the 16th Annual Mardi Gras Children’s (DRIVE THRU) Parade from 10 – 11 AM, Saturday, February 13, 2021 Treat bags will be given to children in their cars. We will be wearing gloves and a mask Call 765-3796 for more information or if any member of the public wishes to participate in giving out treats. If so, volunteers must provide their own treats to give out as well as set up their own table Come in to Municipal Building parking lot on Ivy St., exit onto Hwy 8 W. Please stay in your cars. Motion was made to Adjourn by Councilwoman Kinn, seconded by Councilwoman Dickey. All in favor with 4 yeas, 1 absent (Cathey). Meeting adjourned.
