Town Council Meeting Minutes
November 7, 2022
The Mayor & Town Council met on said date in a Regular Session at 6 P.M. in the Pollock Municipal Building Council Room, Pollock, La.
The following members were present: Mayor Douglas Beavers, Councilwoman Dee Thorne, Councilwoman Cindy Dickey, Councilwoman Kasandra Hooter, Councilman Sheldon Smith, and Councilwoman Misty Kinn.
Mayor Beavers called the meeting to order. Councilwoman Thorne led the Lord’s Prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Smith.
Mayor Beavers welcomed all guests.
Meeting opened for public comments or questions from anyone in attendance concerning agenda items in accordance with LSA R.S. 42:14. There were no comments.
Motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilwoman Thorne to approve the monthly minutes of October 3, 2022, town council meeting. Roll call vote: Yeas 5, Nays 0, Abstain 0, Absent 0. Motion carried.
Motion by Councilwoman Hooter, seconded by Councilman Smith to approve and enter into an Intergovernmental and Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Town of Colfax. Roll call vote: Yeas 5, Nays 0, Abstain 0, Absent 0. Motion carried.
The town’s CPA firm representative, Emily Bourgeois, was present. There was nothing to report.
Pan American Engineers representative Spencer Gauthier was not present.
Chief Chris Paul was present. The police department report was presented and reviewed. He reported that his department had discovered people hunting on the town’s land at the Pollock Airport which is an FAA violation and that there was an ongoing investigation concerning this issue. He thanked the council for the purchase of the ballistic shields for his department.
The water/sewer department supervisor was present and discussed the plans for the upgrades and repairs needed at the town’s wastewater treatment plant.
Town Attorney, Greg Jones was present. He had nothing to report.
There were no comments from the council.
The mayor had nothing to report.
Motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilwoman Dickey to adjourn. Roll call vote: Yeas 5 Nays 0, Abstain 0, Absent 0. Motion carried. Meeting Adjourned.
